What can a skin tightening treatment do for you?
Sagging skin can occur almost anywhere on the body for a number of different reasons, including weight loss, pregnancy, illness and even ageing. At a scientific level, it’s related to the levels of collagen and elastin in your skin which are responsible for it’s laxity.
Once the skin becomes loose, it can be very hard to get it back to it’s original laxity without a bit of extra help. The BTL Exilis machine targets specific layers of tissue beneath the skin to stimulate the renewed production of collagen.

How does the BTL Exilis get rid of sagging skin?
Starting with the basics, think of your skin as if it’s a balloon that has been blown up with air. If you leave the balloon out for too long, it will start to wrinkle and sag as it ages, and if you let the air out really quickly you’ll find that the balloon is bigger than before you blew it up in the first place. The same goes for your skin as you age or lose weight rapidly.
As we age, the body naturally slows down collagen production which leads to skin that isn’t as tight as it was previously. If you lose weight too quickly, you don’t give the skin a chance to naturally regain it’s shape at a steady rate, which again causes the skin to sag.
The BTL Exilis system uses a combination of ultrasound and radio frequency technologies to trigger a thermal reaction beneath the skin. This thermal reaction stimulates the production of collagen beneath the skin which then starts to heal the structural layers and tighten them. This effect of the collagen is what reduces the appearance of sagging skin, and to further improve the results the BTL X-Wave system (which uses acoustic wave techonology) can be added to smooth the skin out even further.
