External Care

Whilst in-clinic appointments make up the core of our podiatry offerings, we are aware that not all patients are able to attend in clinic. We offer those patients the chance to be treated in their own homes.

We come fully equipped with instruments, towel, dressings and padding and even additional lighting. We will be as tidy as we can and leave your home as we found it, talking away as much rubbish as we can.

We also provide podiatry to nursing and care homes, businesses and sports clubs throughout Cheshire, Shropshire and Staffordshire.

The Nantwich Clinic

What external podiatry care do we provide?

Our podiatrists are members of the Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists, which means they are correctly qualified and monitored for safe practices and hygiene standards. They are also Health Care Professions Council registered, and demonstrate a professional and caring attitude. As with in clinic, all our practitioners are fully qualified and enhance DBS checked.

When we visit, our instruments will have been sterilised and individually bagged in our own decontamination suite in order to maintain the highest standards of hygiene.  Feet will be disinfected before treatment and all the dermatological, vascular and cardiac assessments that we use in clinic will be carried out before treatment.  Then, after these assessments and a chat, all appropriate and necessary treatments will be carried out.

External podiatry care for homes

Part of looking after yourself is associated with making sure that you can get out and about (which is why we encourage a healthy lifestyle and nutrition in addition to the treatments that we provide). We do however understand that this isn’t something that everyone is able to achieve, whether that’s associated with their age or an underlying health problem. This is why we have a fully equipped mobile surgery that we use to provide podiatry treatments to patients in the comfort of their own home, covering the areas of Nantwich, Wistaston, Crewe, Audlem and Wrenbury.

External podiatry care for care/nursing homes

Our fully equipped mobile podiatry surgery is also able to provide podiatry treatments within care and nursing homes throughout Cheshire and the wider counties of Staffordshire and Shropshire. Keeping the feet clean and in good shape is important to avoid any problems, especially as we age and become less mobile. Routine appointments can be scheduled in for treatments where all residents can be treated for any of their podiatry needs, whether that’s treatment for a corn or callus or simply just ensuring the nails are cut correctly, in the comfort and privacy of their own room.

External podiatry care for businesses

While it may be slightly different contextually to schedule in podiatry treatments within a business, we are able to offer on-site consultation and our full range of podiatry treatments for your staff. Covering the North West and Midlands areas of the UK, bringing podiatry into the workplace can be a unique way to reward your staff, with groups of ten or more able to claim a group discount.

External care

Who is most likely to benefit from external podiatry care?

In essence, anyone who would benefit from our clinic based podiatry services would be able to benefit from our external podiatry care. The main difference is that with our external care service, we specifically target those who are more likely to struggle with their movement and will therefore experience greater difficulty in visiting the clinic. While reduced mobility isn’t a necessity when it comes to our external care service, it does tend to be the biggest contributing factor to those who book it.

Because we are able to treat the vast majority of foot problems from our mobile podiatry surgery, we have been able to improve the life of many patients across Cheshire and the North West of England, helping them to restore their independence in movement once again.

What conditions can be treated via external podiatry care?

We are able to treat all foot conditions, such as:

  • Gait analysis
  • Nail cutting
  • Corn removal
  • Callus reduction
  • Fungal nail infections
  • Ingrown toenails
  • Diabetic foot assessments and care
  • Wound healing
  • Nail surgery – under local anesthetic is available only in the clinic

Ongoing foot checks for at risk feet enable changes in the circulatory and neurological condition within the feet to be monitored. This is essential for those whose foot health needs, such as those with diabetes, are taken care of in order to prevent the occurrence of ulcers and further lower limb complications.
